The Suri Breed Standard was first developed by a team consisting of breeders, veterinarians, and certified alpaca judges and adopted by the Suri Network in 2016 after a vote by the membership to accept it. Ten years later the Suri Breed Standard was reviewed, updated and adopted in 2016 by another vote of the membership. Since that time, this same Suri Breed Standard has been adopted by the membership of the Alpaca Owners Association. The Suri Breed Standard serves as the foundation upon which S.H.I.P. is based.
